Slab Fudge – Artisan Vegan Fudge From The Isle Of Wight

Vegan Fudge; a product I never believed would have existed when I began my journey into Veganism 3 years ago. The dairy-free delight is on the rise and I am slowly discovering small businesses that are changing the future of the fudge industry. After a chat on twitter, the wonderful Rachel from Slab Artisan Fudge sent me a beautiful box to sample. 3 best sellers and a Christmas special, I was eager to sink my teeth into these!

SLAB ARTISAN VEGAN FUDGE BACKGROUND

Despite being a traditional dairy fudge company for many years, it wasn’t until a few months ago that Rachel herself tried her hand at creating vegan fudge. After many attempts, she finally perfecting the recipe and took the products for a test run at Southampton Vegan Festival. The overwhelming response they received meant that they ran out by 2pm and have been inundated with dairy-free orders since. This is such fantastic news and what a way for vegans to to support a small business in taking a step towards a more dairy-free pathway!

VEGAN FUDGE: DEATH BY CHOCOLATE FLAVOUR

The inner chocaholic inside screamed to try the Death By Chocolate vegan fudge first. The coconut cream combined with the rich dark chocolate was to die for (literally). You could taste the different layers of chocolate, milky and creamy rather than dark and bitter. The buttery texture tastes exactly as I remember fudge tasting like and even more indulgent with the chocolate drops sprinkled a top. For chocolate lovers, this will win you over!

VEGAN FUDGE: XMAS PUD LIMITED FLAVOUR

This limited edition slab of vegan fudge is for the festive fanatics. This buttery fudge is packed with pieces of fruit, nuts and festive spices topped off with a dash of rum. Despite not being a fan of the dried fruit and nut combo, the warm spices and nostalgic flavour of mince pie made it rather delicious. This would be a favourite in my family household, particularly with the grandparents!

VEGAN FUDGE: TIGER BUTTER FLAVOUR

If I could eat jars of peanut butter, I would. The Tiger Butter vegan fudge flavour was the perfect balance between salt and sweet. The saltiness of the peanut butter chunks combined with the sweetness of the chocolate fudge swirls and coconut cream meant it was a match made in heaven. For Peanut Butter Cup lovers, this would make a wonderful gift. Indulgent, creamy and moorish, this could be my favourite flavour yet!

VEGAN FUDGE: RASPBERRY COCONUT FLAVOUR

The final flavour had to be the sweetest vegan fudge of all, raspberry extract blended with oodles of coconut cream. The bright pink and white colour will take you back to your childhood, reminiscent of eating nougat and other sugary treats by the sea.

That looks so delicious. I didn’t even know vegan fudge exists until last week – my secret santa bought me locally made vegan fudge, which I thought was so thoughtful. I think it might have been better than any non-vegan fudge I’ve ever eaten.
