I fell in love with Copenhagen as a city as well as the vegan food they had to offer. I couldn’t resist sharing with you all what I ate in a day on our trip to the Danish capital.
I love waking up to the smell of coffee. Our Air BnB apartment had a Nespresso pod coffee machine, a type I never thought I would fall in love with. The pods themselves aren’t very eco-friendly therefore we would never upgrade our machine back home but we sure enjoyed indulging each morning. I twinned my coffee with a delicious bowl of berry muesli, soya milk and sliced banana. The muesli had pieces of puffed rice, nuts, seeds and dried berries which kept us fuller for longer.
For lunch we stopped at Kalaset, a quirky cafe near the Torvehallerne market place. Having seen many positive reviews from fellow bloggers, I knew we had to stop by. The artsy decor and vintage features complimented the cafe’s relaxed feel with an extensive brunch, lunch and dinner menu. I chose the Kongens Have, a chilli sin carne dish served on fresh sourdough with sliced avocado, grilled vegetables and fresh salad. It was packed full of flavour and wholesome; just what my stomach needed!
As always, a day isn’t complete without a latte. We stopped by a cafe called Shabaz for a creamy soya latte and a Nakd bar. We sat and watched people stroll by and stared in awe at the interior design magazines that fulfilled all of our Danish decor desires.
No visit to Copenhagen is complete without stopping by Paper Island. You could compare it to the likes of London’s Dinerama or Camden Kerb market yet less hustle and bustle and more chilled and laidback. With many vegan options to choose from, we set our eyes upon a vegan burger joint called Latienda. The Colombian street food sure did deliver! We tried the Happy Vegan Burger and Pulled Vegan Burger and they were incredible. With lashings of guacamole, sprouts, seedlings and greens, it all complimented the delicious healthy burger patty inside.
We finished the evening with a homemade soy hot chocolate and snuggled up on the sofa listening to our favourite music.
Have you sampled any of these foods in Copenhagen?
