My Go To Super Green Spinach And Banana Smoothie

Following a plant-based diet, if followed correctly, can reap hundreds of benefits not only for your health but for your skin, immune system, mood; the list goes on. However, when your body is lacking a vital vitamin or mineral, or you become deficient in one of those areas, you can be left feeling a little sluggish and out of sorts.

As most vegans are a little more prone to iron-deficiency than our fellow carnivores, my focus from here onwards is to make sure that I am getting enough of this vital mineral on a daily basis. Not only are my Iron levels in mind but upping my calcium intake as well as Vitamin A, C and of course keeping my B12 in check are all of upmost importance.

My Go To Super Green Spinach And Banana Smoothie

Beginning the day with a superfood smoothie is a quick and easy way to get in all of the essential minerals and vitamins without much effort. Now I, like many, believed that blending pounds of fruit, superfood powders and seeds on a daily basis would soon burden my wallet. Initially, buying the blender and the superfood powder bases that give the juices the boost that you need may set you back a little. However, only using a teaspoon a day of say Spirulina means that the expensive ingredients will last a couple of months or so. Building your smoothies around bananas, kale, spinach, carrots and other cheap staple fruit and vegetables will keep the juices within budget.

My Go To Super Green Spinach And Banana Smoothie


1 tsp Spirulina: great source of iron, vitamin C, vitamin A, Zinc, magnesium, calcium & high in protein 

1 tsp Wheatgrassgreat source of chlorophyll, high in protein, vitamin C, vitamin A, B complex & 17 amino acids 

1 Tbsp of Chia Seedsgreat source of Omega-3, fiber, magnesium, zinc, calcium & iron 

2 Handfuls of Spinachgreat source of iron 

1 Bananagreat source of potassium 

1 Cup of Hemp Milkgreat source of Omega-3, Omega-6, B12, folic acid, potassium & Iron 

A Dash of Cinnamon (optional)

A Drizzle of Maple Syrup (optional)


Add all of the ingredients into the blender and blend! Serve in a glass jar, as a smoothie bowl or drink it on the go.
